This business was a consulting business as well as a material sales business where he could get others to do delliveryu and it seemed his inventory was not at his property.  And he he was the key person.  That's not the kind of business that is typically "sold off" or "shut down".  It's hard to build and too easy to maintain. Something doesn't make sense.  

One possible reason this was done was to conceal his "larger business experience" in preparation for a  run into politics.
