This page is an introduction to Glenn Church's third and current wife, Kathryn McKenzie.
To be clear and fair about this deep dive up front, Glenn listed her on his SEI 700 as a Sole Proprietorship that he owned, and indicated she made money from Monterey Herald (a local newspaper). A politician married to a media person is always concerning, but that turned out to be just the tip of the iceburg. This page introduces a lot of information and concerns. Some is then expanded on in related pages.
Glenn Church's Campaign Website identifies his current wife as Kathryn McKenzie.
In his SEI 700 Filing, Church identifies McKenzie under the "Business Entity or Trust" category. He states Kathryn McKenzie is engaged in Freelance Writing - the nature of his investment is as a "sole proprietorship" while identifying himself as "Owner".
It's unclear how Church actually owns his Kathryn McKenzie as a Sole Proprietorship given slavery was abolished many years ago -- and we are assuming this entry was for her as her, not her as some entity that he forgot to further clarify -- like the Kathryn McKenzie Trust. As Owner of her as stated, is she his writing slave or has something else been confused?
Who is this writing slave, how did they come to marriage, where or how did so much property get accumulated in the McKenzie name with Church associated --what conflicts of interest might there be with the Realtors, Brokers, Property Managers, the News Media or others - given it seems McKenzie may have the power to affect local, state and even national news (per her own bio on her own websit that disappeared from view around 2015 oddly).
Did the Monterey Herald (and all the other local papers) know Church's Campaign website and his "humble represenations" were a bit light on actual commercial facts, relationships and possible conflicts of interest (including that with them themselves) ?
There is a LOT that needs to be processed here for sure...
The filing on the SEI 700 form, combined with his/her/their annual earnings of $10k-100k a year with more than 10% coming from the Monterey Herald, combined with joint ownership of 5 condominiums at an Antique Mall (and the antique business in general being a great money laundering avenue), Church's missing Consulting business (Pacific Coast Soils), an odd reference to a McMac real property partnership in 2024 that was NOT disclosed on his 2023 forms -- and more -- led to a need to DEEP DIG into McKenzie's and Churchs relationship and her background to search for understanding as well as conflicts of interest.
The Glenn and Kathryn (Kathy) relationship seems to have come about in the 2015 to 2017 time frame, and it seems McKenzie is his third wife.
Land records suggest there was little to no time between the split from Glenn's second wife Gabriela and his relationship with McKenzie. Land records seems to indicate Glenn and Kathryn started buying space in an Antique Mall before Glenn and Gabriella's separation of real estate was final. It's unclear if Glenns 2nd wife knew of and/or cared about the first antique mall condo purchase by Glenn and Kathryn McKenzie or not.
4/9/2015 - Glenn Church and (second wife) Gabriella Church sign a Deed of Trust seemingly related to refinance or 2nd mortgage with adjustable rate rider for 637,500 for 377 Hidden Valley Road. At that time they present to the bank they are husband and wife. NOTE: it seems two assignments were filed that look similar with notes "record 1st" and "record 2nd" on them back to back.
11/23/2015 - Monterey Wave St Partners LLP grants unit 111 in the Monterey Antique Mall to Glenn Church and Kathryn McKenzie Nichols (no mention is made if single or married)
6/27/2016 - Glenn and wife Gabriella grant to Gabriella some property with following reason >> "a spouse or former spouse in connection with a property settlement agreement or decree of dissolution of marriage or legal separation". (address unclear at this time - not in photo copies)
9/16/2016 - Church and McKenzie, identified as unmarried people in one document, take possession of more condominiums (in an Antique Mall)
9/26/2017 - Warren Church Trust was transfered to Glenn as "a married man", presumably McKenzie. 470 Hidden Valley Road is identified as part of the Trust that transfers.
9/27/2019 - 377 Hidden Valley Road has some type of Assignment of Deed transpire
2/9/2022 - Some property (seemingly 385 Hidden Valley Road) is transferred From Glenn Church to Glenn Church as the Trustee of the Church Family Trust u/d/d/ 2/9/2022. Mialing address is 470 Hidden Valley Road. There is also a not stating it transferred a "residential dwelling to an owner-occupier".
Land records seem to indicate McKenzie and her (first) husband Mitch Hunter Nichols were granted land by her parents in 1992. That property may have been 18869 Rea Ave, Aromas CA 95004.
It's probably nice to have parents with land who can transfer that when they can.
It seems around 2013 Kathryn and Mitch started to part ways. it appears he may have granted her something he owned and they granted her something they owned jointly . Then in 2014 she granted property into her own living trust.
At time of their separation in 2013 t seems her husband was in Manilla (Phillipines).
Who is Mitch Nichols and what was he doing in the Philipines?
Turns out he's a retired Author who was married to McKenzie for 25 years. It seems he got remarried in 2011, so they must have been estranged for a while prior to clearing up the property ownership matter.
He's got an interesting story too.
Reading Mitch's bio, he admits to being married to Kathryn McKenzie for 25 years but its unclear when and how that marriage transpired as the dates and descriptions of jobs and locations don't line up clearly with a home in Aromas. Maybe he or they commuted or he rented a place in Madera during that part of his journey.
Mitch is a Published Author on Amazon and this is his bio from amazon...

In Church's 3/7/2024 SEI form to the County, Church makes an odd and incomplete disclosure that seemingly should have been in the Real Estate Section.
He calls McMac a "business entity" with a description of "Real Estate Holding" and a Fair Market Value of 1 Million +.
He also does NOT indicate it was acquired during 2023. If that's the case then he had an obligation to disclose it then.
He goes on to call this a "Partnership" while declaring himself a "partner".
He then states his share of gross income t the entity or trust exceeds $100,000 while stating not more than 10% of income comes from single source. That means there must be more than 10 properties in the portfolio.
He then lists "Dominican Way, Santa Cruz" as the address in a woefully incomplete way -- for a "precise location of real property" while stating the Fair Market Value is 100k-1M -- a contradiction to the statement prior?
The he checked the box stating additional schedules are attached. Yet no schedules were attached?
Sheesh talk about confusion and a good way to draw concern...
A business entity search for McMac returned only one active match in the form of McMac LLC. That company was formed 12/26/1995 , it's current and the registered agent is "Neil Robin McKenzie, 4399 Morris Dr, Soquel, CA 95073" . There is no confirmation at this time this is related to Kathryn McKenzie and Glenn Church's disclosure, but logically it seems it would be.
